Additional Informations: We are delighted to present to you today an exceptionally beautiful Rolex GMT-Master Ref. 1675 from 1972. The watch bears a serial number in the 2.99 million range, placing it at the lower end of the generally accepted range for this reference. While the usual range is often cited between 4.1 and 5.8 million, several examples with serial numbers between 3.0 and 3.3 million have been documented – among them Marlon Brando’s rediscovered GMT with a 3.24 million number.
It is assumed that this may be related to the later sales period, as significantly fewer watches were sold in the early 1970s, particularly during the oil crisis. A lower serial number paired with an MK4 dial is therefore considered plausible among collectors.
Our example features a period-correct “Redback” Pepsi bezel, whose color gradient has developed a wonderfully balanced vintage aesthetic over the decades. The case presents in a very harmonious overall condition – professionally refinished, yet without any intrusive interventions such as laser work.
The original matte tritium dial impresses with its evenly warm patina. The hands, including the red GMT hand, are perfectly color-matched, untouched, and blend seamlessly into the overall appearance.
The watch is fitted with an Oyster steel bracelet of reference 7836 with 380 end links and a period-correct, undated clasp – correct for the final production runs of these folded-link bracelets.
Box and certificate are present and included in the delivery set.
