Additional Informations: This Audemars Piguet with reference 8964 SA dates from the late 1970s to early 1980s and belongs to the manufacturer’s rare design models produced outside of the Royal Oak line. Among collectors it is known as the “Zebra,” as the case and bracelet feature a characteristic striped pattern. This look is created through the alternating use of stainless steel and yellow gold, forming a continuous design band across the entire watch.
The flat, rectangular case with an integrated bracelet reflects the typical design language of this era. The dial is understated, featuring a gold-toned sunburst finish, an applied Audemars Piguet logo, and slim baton markers, resulting in a deliberately clean and well-balanced aesthetic. Depending on the version, the model was equipped with a quartz movement, though mechanical variants of the series also exist — as is the case with ours.
Today, the 8964 SA is rarely seen on the market and is considered a piece of lesser-known AP design history. Its particular appeal lies in the combination of its unusual material concept, clear lines, and a distinctive look that—even among Audemars Piguet collectors with an interest beyond the Royal Oak - is regarded as exceptionally unique.
