Additional Informations: Today, we are pleased to offer an exceptionally rare Vacheron Constantin from the golden age of Geneva Haute Horlogerie. Crafted in 18k pink gold, this is the Ref. 4956, one of the earliest models fitted with the Caliber 498/499. It represents the transition from Vacheron Constantin’s legendary bumper automatic movement to a full-rotor automatic movement, marking an important milestone in the history of the Swiss manufacture.
The watch has undergone a complete overhaul. During the service, the four rare rotor ball bearings were replaced, ensuring that the automatic winding system now operates flawlessly and exactly as intended.
Particularly noteworthy is its original and unaltered condition, featuring its authentic dial, case, and movement. The watch is fitted with an original Vacheron Constantin leather strap. The pink gold-tone pin buckle is gold-plated and is most likely not an original Vacheron Constantin component.
Examples of this reference rarely appear on the market. Thanks to its short production period and historical significance, the Ref. 4956 is regarded as one of the most desirable early automatic Vacheron Constantin models—an elegant and technically fascinating timepiece for the discerning collector.
